ONLY JESUS

Needs are a pretty big thing in everybody’s life.  Or at least what people think their needs are.  Most of the time, the things we think we need are not really needs at all, but wants.  I want dessert, I want a new car, I want a raise.

The truth is all of our needs are met through Jesus.  Jesus said “do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on.  Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25)  If God is covering all those things, the rest are wants or desires.

The idea in this song is that we know Jesus is covering all our needs throughout our chaos and our wandering.  He leads when we are tired and He wipes away our sinful past.  The rest of the stuff, those things we want other than Jesus, are meaningless. They don’t satisfy.  Only Jesus can satisfy.

One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. – Psalm 27:4

As you sing this song, pray that your heart would be like David’s and that your wants, your desires, and whatever you think you need would be “Only Jesus”.   Love Him with all of your everything!  Seek Him and He will cover your needs and fill your desires.  Let your heart want for only Him.
